This unit is designed to assist with sparking on 6V or 12V engines that still use points. There will be no burning of contact breaker points but new points will need adjustment after 800km to compensate for bedding in of the heel…. they should then last 40,000 kms. All standard methods of ignition timing can still be used, the contact breaker gap will have little effect on the output voltage of the system, therefore smaller gaps can be used on high revving engines. A small increase in the revs at idle may be experienced due to better combustion. The unit can be used on engines without a distributor but one unit is required per set of points. This applies to most motorcycles.
